a scooter to keep him busy

It is warm weather again. In as much as I dread the little bugs that are associated with warm weather, I am so happy it is here. I do not hate the cold months anymore but I still prefer the warm days over the cold ones. My tropical-raised bones still long for the sun, see? Anyway, warm days means going outdoors more and more, which is a good thing because the little man is making me crazy with his complaints about being bored. He gets to play outside almost every day now either mining for diamonds on dead sycamore tree trunks or playing ball when he feels like being an "athlete". I have been encouraging him to practice riding his bicycle without the training wheels but he claims it is too hard. He now wants a kick scooter after he saw kick scooters online while browsing online for games he can play. I agree it could be good for him, better than the bicycle because then I do not have to worry about him falling. At least with a kick scooter he will be upright which is better for his balance as well. Now that I agreed, we only have to convince daddy this is good for the little man. Knowing him, we know he will say yes because he would rather have his son play outside than play games in the computer. It would be nice to find one we can afford.

planning for a vacation (again!)

The husband has a plan, we are going on a vacation. No, it is not the Philippines. Just within the US. He plans to visit the place where he was born, California. It is over two thousand miles from us so he does not know whether or not we will go on a road trip or just buy plane tickets for four. It will be expensive but if he wants to do this I am all for it. He has had this plan for a while now so I know it will only be a matter of time and he will be telling me to pack our stuff. But then he might change his mind and say we will go to PI instead. Either way, I am all for it. I like to travel and as long as we have the money to spend for it and the kids are good then there is no point in saying no. Life is too short to worry about tomorrow. We are here to live for the day and enjoy, right? Might as well do it :)

an update

Not about me though but about a friend who’s now in FL, vacationing. I chatted with her the other day to know how things are going so far over there. She said everything has been great. The supposed to be short trip was extended because there are still unfinished tasks to do. She also mentioned about her in-laws rounding up phone numbers for estate lawyers with regards to their will. Anyway, I am glad to know things are working out good and they’re getting ready for their impending move to Florida. I’m sure she will love living there! Many times she mentioned how much she misses the beach, although they can't go swimming as of the moment because the waves are huge. I also heard there’s hurricane there right now. Be careful girlfriend and have fun! Can’t wait for your goodie.

sugar overload?

I have been drinking sweet tea lately. In fact, there are days that I remember only drinking sweet tea and no water at all. This is so not me. I just don't know what is going on. I feel like I need to drink sweet tea and so I do. I fix our sweet tea because it is expensive to buy ready to drink ones in gallons anymore. I boil black tea, put the liquid in a gallon with enough sugar then let it sit in the fridge. Oh, it is so good when it is super cold. I don't think it is healthy though. Think of all the sugar I am taking in. So I have made a resolve to drink only about a glass of sweet tea a day so I can drink more water. I think I have been doing pretty good so long as I don't open the fridge. Lol.

the benefits of wine

The growing research evidence on the health benefits of red wine has prompted a lot of people to switch from drinking any other alcoholic beverages to red wine. Yet, there are also a lot of research studies pointing good benefits that you can get on alcohol consumptions as long as you drink it moderately. So it is always better to gather more information about wine online, before you even hit the liquor store and grab your favorite spirit. The only thing is that, many are still misguided about how much you can only consume in a day to take advantage of its beneficial effect and have a healthy heart. But again, don’t misconstrue it because this is just one of the many factors out there.

a new toy

I have been planning to buy a new toy for the little girl. It is something educational, of course. I already have the husband's okay so I only need to go to the store and choose what I think is best for our growing baby girl. I want to buy her either a Leaptop or a LeapPad but I have not made up my mind which to choose between these two yet. I need to test the product first before I make the purchase because I want to make sure she will really learn from it. If it costs more it should deliver, right? So far, I have done good on choosing toys for the little man so I am hoping my maternal instinct will not fail me this time. You might ask, why not give the little girl her brother's old toys? Because most of the toys are "obsolete" and some that are still working he will not part with. So to avoid any arguments, the little girl will have her own toys, new ones, to establish ownership. We will see what I will get and if the little girl will even like it.

our choice

The husband and I had our own plans for our bathroom should we get lucky and be able to buy our own house. We wanted the bathroom accessories to be of our own choice. Of course the things have to match too because he says that it gives him headache to see a bathroom that looks like the owner just added on to the original accessories that were in it. So when we got lucky and bought our own house, he implemented his plan. We went to the store and bought stuff that we agreed will look good on our bathroom. No, we did not get over the top. There are after all affordable bathroom accessories available in stores as long as one is patient enough to hunt for them. We agreed on chrome for both bathrooms but they will have totally different paint color because we want the bathroom on the master bedroom to be, well, different. The result of our labor is rewarding. We have bathrooms that friends have been gushing over because of its simplicity and neatness. Every thing is in its proper place and there is nothing in there that we do not need. I believe in keeping stuff in any room at a minimum so it will be easy to clean up and if you have two kids running around needing your attention you do not want to spend too much time cleaning bathrooms either. I do love our bathrooms as well. I think the husband and I did good.

we are going on a trip

The husband has been talking about going on a trip. Destination, unknown. Lol. He has not figured out where he wants to go and if I know him well he will decide on a place at the last minute. So I guess I should be ready to pack at a moment's notice because I will be packing for four. It is not really as bad as it sounds since I am used to packing stuff for the family. I already know what my boys need while the little girl does not really need much as long as she has her favorite blankie and plenty of food and formula. As for me, I only need a handful of shorts and shirt and I should be ready to go. I do not normally dress up when we go on trips because it is not practical to be lugging in a lot of bags plus I am not the type to dress up anyway. At the husband's apparent dismay, I "dress like a bum". Anyway, I put on clothes that are comfortable and that is about it. Yes, I can wear beautiful clothes but if I am not comfortable with it there is no point. I do dress up when the occasion needs it but if it is just me and my family I do what I like. I think I am already excited, lol. I should know soon enough where the family is headed in a few weeks.
