technology addict

Thanks to Roman May.

I don’t know what I would do without my clear 4g internet. I am so dependent on it now that I can take my computer anywhere and know that I will have a wireless connection with me. I would rather carry my computer than always use my phone because the screen on my phone is so small. It’s annoying to struggle to type on those small keys too. I always make stupid typos and it takes me forever to type an email. My husband always says that I am a technology addict because he gets annoyed that I am always on my computer. I can’t help it that I like to be on top of what is going on in the world. I like to make sure that I am read up on all of the latest news, and I return emails immediately when it is required. Maybe some would consider me obsessed, but I’m fine with it. With all of the technology we have access to these days, I can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t be like me and always have access.

relocating

We are going out of town for a few days. How I wish this is for pleasure but it is not. We will be overseeing the works being done at our house. We will be staying at the said house for days so we will not be out of money on gas. I hope that it will get finished quick so we can move on and do what we want to do. We originally thought we will move in it and we will still do it but we will not be living in it for long if we can find a buyer. The husband wants to move back near the coast and as much as I like the peace and quiet of the country, I have to let my husband do what makes him happy. I must admit I love living near the coast that is why I am not complaining. We have to make decisions now because the little man is almost of school age and we want him to stay in one school as much as possible. We miss the fresh seafood and the beach so much and the place where we are planning to relocate has good schools so we hope it will eventually work out.

visiting family

Posted by Gaylord Campbell.

Miami Beach, Florida is caliente! What a gorgeous city full of gorgeous people! I visit there often. My brother and his wife live there and when I visit we have a fun filled weekend! We enjoy eating at trendy restaurants and I love the Cuban restaurants. There is nowhere in my city that can make a Mojito like the bartenders in Miami. Seafood is my favorite food and there are more fresh seafood restaurants than I can ever visit. Before my last visit, back in the summer, my brother bought a new home. It is not on the beach but it takes me no more than five minutes to get there. When I arrived, the guys from adt miami beach were there installing my brother’s new home security system. I said hello to them and went about inspecting the new home. It was beautiful – coral stucco with a tile roof. It looked like a Miami house! I loved it. And in this new house, I have my own room, which beats the heck out of sleeping on the sofa! Well, it is mine until they decide to make it into a nursery. Until then I am one happy visitor!

almost ready

We have been staying at motels for the last two weeks so we can stay near our house while it is being fixed. We know this is not the most practical thing to do but we do not have much of a choice, somebody has to oversee the repairs and renovations and the husband refuses to be by himself when he does that so the kids and I have to go with him. He also refuses to stay in what he calls as roach motels so we are paying more for a room and a bed to sleep in. I am thankful that the kids are being good about it. They have not been acting up or complained. It helps that there are a lot of choices on the channel line up on television so they have something to keep them busy while we are in the room. We cannot wait for the house to get finished. We are so ready to move in. We hope it will be soon.

Preparing a great community Easter holiday celebration

When it comes to the celebration of the different holidays, you may find that the way that they are celebrated depends strongly on the people which have made the holiday what it is. Our families that we are born into often times help us with the forming of the thoughts and feelings that we have towards the holidays, no matter which one it is. One of the biggest and most celebrated parts of the year, and one that is also looked forward to by everyone involved are the Christmas holiday celebrations. The Easter celebrations are very popular as well.

Along with the Easter egg hunts, there is also a need for Easter baskets to be decorated in order to be used as a part of the festivities. Children can decorate these on their own or with the assistance of an adult so as to be given some sort of direction with their creativity. Many parents are the ones who take on the responsibility for creating these Easter baskets on behalf of their children. They make them or they purchase them without their children knowing anything about it in order to surprise them on the holiday.

There are also a number of activities that must also be a par of the celebrations whether you choose to have them just within the small circle of your family and friends or whether they are celebrated by the community at large. There are things such as the dyeing of the Easter eggs and there are also the springtime decorations that must be put up as well in order to make the holiday more festive for those who are choosing to celebrate it. These are not the easiest of jobs especially when you decide to help out on a much larger scale than you may be used to.

No matter what scale you decide to celebrate any holiday on there is a lot of good things about celebrating a holiday no matter which one it is. Spending quality time with the people around us who matter most is one of the things that has made celebrating anything that much more enjoyable. When you take the time to spend time with the people that matter the most to you it shows them that you care and that you are willing to show that you appreciate them. This is something that we may strive to do and it is something that can be accomplished with effort.

excellent deals

Guest written by our friend Solomon Thompson.

We got some excellent Dish Deals from the local provider and I thought we’d end up giving up the premium channels after those first few months that were free. As it turns out I like having HBO and Showtime FAR more than I ever would have thought and I think part of it is on demand. I love that when I get home from work I can put on an episode of my favorite show (which right now is a toss up between Homeland and Dexter) and I don’t have to wait for it to come on. I can’t believe how good the shows on the premiums have gotten in the last few years – what in the world have those writers been up to? Whatever it is I hope they keep it up because I cant get enough. Just about nothing on the regular channels even holds a candle to what we watch on the pay channels, enough so that we signed on for another year after this free trial ends!

book swap

I love to read. Anybody who knows me knows that I am crazy over books. The husband supports me on this hobby(?) which is good because I don't know what I would have done if he is against it. I have bought, swapped, threw, even burned books in the years that passed. Only recently did I think about keeping all the books I bought not because I had plans for them (not at the time anyway) but because I just did not want to waste them. Then I have found a resource online to get new (at least something I have not read) books while using my old books as barter. I have read reviews, went online and done research, before I decided to give it a try. It is slow going. Not a lot of people apparently read what I like to read which is fiction. And even if they do, the market is saturated with the same kind of books I have. Clearly a lot of competition there. But I did not lose hope. I persevered and almost a year later, I have swapped and ordered several books that I am happy about. I have not been to the store to buy more books. It does not mean that I don't want to, there is just no need to. Not at the moment anyway. I save money this way and the anticipation of getting a new book in the mail is priceless. I do hope to get more orders for my books though because I have a lot of titles lined up on my to be read file. What can I say, there are so many good books out there :D

a promotion

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Have you heard that Walgreens is running a promotion called Walgreens Prescription Savings Club for people who lack or have insufficient coverage on their prescription? Yes, they are. For $10 you and your immediate family (that includes spouse, dependents 22 and under, even pets) is covered. That is a lot of discount when it adds up. You also get discounts on some brand name and all generic prescriptions, flu shots, pet supplies and select medical supplies. Also, you will get bonuses (I want to know what these include) when you purchase Walgreens and Nice! brands. I should say that is a lot of benefits for just ten dollars a year. But since this is a promotional run, this means that this will end soon. No good things last too long, sadly. We are using a different store because there was not a Walgreens in our area until a few months ago. I will have to tell  the husband about this news. He might be interested enough to switch with these much benefit. Anyway, I have started my campaign by liking Walgreens on Facebook and then I will tell my friends about it. I already have a friend who checks Walgreens for updates on hot deals so I bet she already knows what is going on. If you have a Facebook account you can like Walgreens so you too will know the latest deals. Or better yet, if you have a Twitter account, follow Walgreens on Twitter for current promotions and information. It pays to be informed. No, make it one saves to be informed.
